color:#85868c; font-weight:bold;\">less CO\u2082 emitted into the atmosphere per year<\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The commitment to <strong>sustainability<\/strong> and to <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>protection of the environment<\/strong> is a hallmark of <strong>Geisa Fabrics<\/strong>, one that is embodied mainly in its <strong>Geslife programme<\/strong>. This global commitment programme covers the raw materials and manufacturing processes used in our fabrics, as well as the way the energy that we use in our plants is produced.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, the <strong>Geisa Fabrics<\/strong> plant in Burgos, which takes care of dyeing and finishing our fabrics, has been operating a 820-kW <strong>photovoltaic installation for self-consumption<\/strong> since January 2021. The solution was provided by the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baywa-re.es\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BayWa\u202fr.e.<\/a><\/strong> enterprise, one of the ten leading developers of this type of plans in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The installation is comprised of solar panels deployed on the roof of the industrial premises and on an adjacent piece of land, plus a solar-powered awning with three electric vehicle-charging points. It produces an annual output of 1027 MWh, which amply covers all the plant\u2019s power consumption requirements.<\/p>\n<p>However, this does not only mean that the factory\u2019s electricity bill is slashed to zero. It is also important to highlight that thanks to the new self-consumption system, the Geisa Fabrics Burgos facility is <strong>carbon-neutral<\/strong> and will prevent the emission of more than 24 tons of CO\u2082 into the atmosphere every year.<\/p>\n<p>Our Burgos plant had already deployed a <strong>combined heat and power generation<\/strong> system that enabled it to increase its energy efficiency. The new photovoltaic installation restates <strong>Geisa Fabrics\u2019<\/strong> desire to be involved in the widespread implementation of <strong>renewable energies in Spain<\/strong>.
