Research and development of new multifunctional assets of natural origin IDI-20230435
On 27/04/2023, the Board of Directors of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation, E.P.E (CDTI), approved the participation of this company in the research and development project entitled RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW MULTIFUNCTIONAL ASSETS OF NATURAL ORIGIN (PANACEA) through the granting of partially repayable aid.
Place of execution: Viladecavalls (Catalonia).
Execution period: 42 months, from 01/01/2023 to 30/06/2026.
Project objective:
The objective of PANACEA is to research new substances, compounds and multifunctional assets of natural origin, both organic and inorganic, that provide a primary function and, secondarily, interact against microorganisms, for the subsequent development of new formulations and final technical applications in the textile, cosmetic, inkjet ink, coating and detergent sectors.
The project has been carried out as a consortium of 8 partners belonging to different industrial sectors: cosmetics, textile, ceramics, biotechnology, chemicals, and agri-tech and plant cultivation.
The project budget amounts to €5,211,500 and CDTI’s total contribution is €4,429,800.
Geisa’s objective in the PANACEA project is the application of these organic and inorganic substances to our elastic fabrics, both in the dyeing section and in the production of water-based finishes for the stenter section.
Results obtained:
- Development of new dyes and textile finishes using the new natural extracts, applied as multifunctional active ingredients and additives.
- Development of microcapsules for these finishes.
- Natural extracts as bee repellents in newly developed three-dimensional beekeeping suits; pre-screening carried out with a repellency performance of > 75%.
- Natural dyes with antibacterial effect (ISO 20743) on polyamide/bamboo fabric.
